ABSTRACT
With many moral philosophies, social theories, and political movements, India, today, is also facing out a lackluster image of women empowerment and ‘feminism.’ When it has been heard that women in prominent positions also face the gender-related critics and the origin of the terms like – Pseudo feminism, to some extent clarifies the limits in empowering almost half of the population. However, women’s equality is always a matter of great concern in India and several special rights are given to them in this regard, but still, women have been related to a secondary status, unappreciated labor, unrecognized position, and undermined partners. Empowerment, in general terms, is a process of uplifting the powerless by giving them more access to power, position, education, economy, health, and social status. Ethically and morally, India always associates power – as Shakti with women but gives access to men. And here, the Women-ism is in crisis. Womanism is a voice of ‘Regardless’ which associates a woman with no one and teaches her to celebrate her own womanhood – an ultimate gift of nature. This research paper is an attempt to know more about womanish and why is it in crisis. When a woman starts to celebrate her womanhood in every aspect, be it social, economic, or political, then it will be understood as the accomplishment of women’s empowerment. Further, this paper at hand studies the status of women in India and the limits of equality and empowerment. This research paper will be concluded with some suggestions and recommendations for the upliftment of women in India.
