Shakir Radhanpurwala, Gujarat University

ABSTRACT

Whenever we talk about the equality, we always give the priority to the women over any other gender. The concept of equality is very broad and today’s age, and the definition of the Gender is become broader. This research article talks about the discrimination and harassment faced by the males. We always used to think that men can never be harassed. Even in India, where we are following the orthodox mindset, it becomes very difficult to accept that men can also be the victim of the harassment and discrimination. The expectations from the males are comparatively high than any other person since he is the only bread winner in the family. There are numerous incidents where men quietly suffer from the some or the other kind of harassment and nobody even notice. However, there are verdict passed by the Indian Judiciary in favour of men also but we are also aware from the fact the there is a lack of compliance of the orders and judgements of the Courts. Moreover, how women misuse the provisions of the laws which are in favour of them against the males as a tool to harass them. It is to be noted that, rather than focusing on any one particular aspect, the notion of the equality should be in favour of all regardless of male or female. Because still we are supposed to be prepare for the long and twisting journey to bring the equality in its true sense.
