Prostitution is as old as civilization and it has been a part of Indian society ever since the idea of marriage came into existence2. In recent days Prostitution has become synonymous with violence, discrimination and exploitation. Prostitution is legal in India, but the activities related to soliciting3, kerb-crawling4, owning or managing a brothel, prostitution in hotels, child prostitution, pimping5 and pandering6 are illegal. Like other forms of violence that are committed against a woman by men. Prostitution is another gender-specific issue because the majority of the victims are women. However, it would be very ignorant to say that not only men but transgender community often go unnoticed when we pinpoint the wrongs of the system of prostitution in India. The lawful status of prostitution changes from place to place within a nation. It is another kind of sex business alongside pornography or any other sexual entertainment. Brothels are foundations explicitly evolved in prostitution. By changing laws, the situation of prostitution reflects contrasting conclusions.
