ABSTRACT


Sexual violence is a global issue that affects both men and women. In India, where the prevalence of sexual violence is a significant concern, the topic of male rape remains underreported and often misunderstood. This research paper aims to shed light on the hidden plight of male rape survivors in India, exploring the challenges they face and the initiatives aimed at supporting them. The introduction provides background information on rape as a global issue and offers a brief overview of the prevalence of sexual violence in India. It then focuses on the underreported and often misunderstood topic of male rape, highlighting the need for increased awareness and understanding. Defining male rape in the Indian context is crucial to understanding its various forms. This section explains male rape and its different manifestations, challenging societal perceptions and misconceptions surrounding male victims.

This paper delves into the psychological and emotional trauma experienced by male survivors, as well as the stigma, shame, and societal expectations that prevent them from seeking help. Moreover, it addresses the legal and institutional challenges in effectively addressing male rape cases. Also, it highlights organizations and NGOs working to support male rape survivors in India, showcasing their efforts in providing counseling, legal assistance, and advocacy. By showcasing these initiatives, this research paper aims to inspire further action and support for male rape survivors.
