ABSTRACT
In recent years, widespread innovation in the field of digital technologies has facilitated the emergence of a new form of exploitation termed cyber slavery. Shrouded in secrecy, it represents an intricate web of exploitation and human rights violations powered by the medium of cyberspace, finding its genesis in Southeast Asian countries. This intricate interplay amongst technology, globalization, and exploitation culminates in the characterization of this phenomenon as a modern manifestation of slavery. This paper delves into the multifaceted dimensions of the emergence of cyber slavery as an organised crime in India, examining its prevalence, manifestations, and underlying mechanisms. It investigates the socio-economic factors and the role of technology that contribute to vulnerability, leading individuals into the perilous realm of cyber exploitation. The paper also endeavours to elucidate the myriad forms of exploitation encompassed within the domain of cyber slavery. Furthermore, it examines the obstacles encountered by Indian law enforcement agencies in addressing cyber slavery and posits strategies for efficacious intervention and prevention. Ultimately, this research contributes to a deeper understanding of the issue, highlighting the urgent need for concerted action at both national and international levels to combat cyber slavery.
