INTRODUCTION
Poaching of animals has a significant impact on the environment in India. Here are some of the ways in which poaching affects the environment: Firstly, it causes an imbalance in the ecosystem by eliminating certain species from the food chain, leading to a ripple effect that affects other species and results in a decline in biodiversity. Secondly, the loss of keystone species due to poaching can have a cascading effect on the ecosystem, leading to a decrease in overall health and productivity. Thirdly, poachers often use illegal methods, such as traps or poison, which can damage the habitat and have negative effects on other species in the area. Fourthly, poaching can have economic implications, particularly in regions where ecotourism is a significant source of income. The decline in wildlife populations can lead to a reduction in tourism and negatively impact the livelihoods of local communities. Lastly, poaching poses a significant threat to endangered species, such as tigers, elephants, and rhinoceroses, which can have serious ecological and cultural consequences if these species become extinct.
