ABSTRACT


India faces a significant issue of gun violence in many states. Gun culture in India is a complex and multifaceted phenomenon influenced by historical, cultural, legal and social factors. India has a long history of use of firearms. Guns play a significant role in India's struggle for independence from British colonial rule. There are many strict laws in India instead of this, there are many loopholes also. In India, many criminal or civilian people buy guns. Some people view guns as a symbol of power and bravery for the protection or means of self- defence, or even to kill someone or to warned someone. There is a greater number of unlicensed firearms compared to licensed ones. Government agencies, police and other authorities adopt different methods to control or to prevent gun culture in India. Many criminals are influenced by politics, which can encourage a culture of firearms and provide hope to wrongdoers. Art and culture also play a role to promote gun culture in many states of India. There are many varied factors that promote gun culture like music, lyrics, scripture, serial or movies. The states like Punjab, Haryana, Jammu & Kashmir are most affected areas in India. In India, the use of guns varies and is influenced by several factors including historical context, legal regulations, and cultural traditions Guns hold a special place in India for activities like sport shooters, private security, and cultural significance.
