Ishaan Deepak Joshi, Forensic Psychology Expert, International Forensic Sciences

ABSTRACT

Forensic psychology has evolved into a pivotal component of criminal justice systems worldwide. As a discipline at the intersection of psychology and law, it provides invaluable insights into the mental processes of criminals, victims, witnesses, and other key participants in the justice system. The role of forensic psychology extends beyond mere assessment and diagnosis; it encompasses the prediction of criminal behavior, the understanding of psychological influences on legal outcomes, and the development of rehabilitation programs. This paper seeks to explore the multifaceted contributions of forensic psychology to modern criminal justice systems, including its impact on criminal investigations, trial proceedings, sentencing, and offender rehabilitation. By delving into its theoretical foundations, practical applications, and ethical dilemmas, this paper aims to highlight the indispensable role that forensic psychology plays in enhancing the fairness, accuracy, and effectiveness of legal proceedings. Through a critical analysis of case studies and real-world applications, this research underscores the need for ongoing integration of psychological expertise in the pursuit of justice.
