ABSTRACT
Climate change is considered the major environmental problem faced by the vulnerable sections of society globally. Women are treated as vulnerable sections of society due to unequal access to resources, information, public health care, education, technologies, energy, etc. Women, irrespective of caste, class, race, age group, region, or employment status face inevitable problems due to the emergence of climate change. Women from all walks of society are affected by climate change either directly or indirectly. Women are prone to adverse effects of climate change because of their vulnerability status in society. The special focus on women is to identify and mitigate the gender gap in climate change policy. Climate change is a serious threat faced by women, directly or indirectly in their daily life. Increasing Effects of Climate change show there exists a negative relationship between Women and Climate change phenomena. Despite international attention to gender responsive climate change action plans, still there exists a problem faced by women in combating climate change issues. Goal 5 of the sustainable development goals call for achieving gender equality and empowering all women and girls. In addition to this Goal 13 aims to take necessary actions to combat climate change and its negative impacts. It is important to see these two goals together and not separately. The major shortcomings in the environmental and climate change conventions are the issues faced by women by climate change don’t get a mainstream focus. The objective is to develop strong gender responsive action plans with community-based participation and to build a community resilience strategy in adaption and mitigation efforts.
