ABSTRACT

The malaise of drug abuse has attained alarming proportions in the last few years. The youth of the country are the most affected by this scourge. Initially, it was drugs like cannabis and opium which found its way into society, but nowadays, deadly substances like heroin are being rampantly abused. The paper aims to analyse the sociological aspects of drug abuse and some important aspects relating to the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances, Act, 1985.
