ABSTRACT

In this erudite inquiry, we attempt exploration of the potential amalgamation of ChatGPT and other artificial intelligence tools within the precincts of the Indian judicial system, with the lofty aim of augmenting the process of decision-making. Our scrutiny casts a discerning eye upon the dissonance prevalent within the legal fraternity, specifically accentuating ethical quandaries and jurisprudential misgivings such as accountability, transparency, and the specter of cognitive biases. As we delve into the transformative impact that AI bestows upon the legal profession, the narrative underscores the imperative for a reexamination of professional acumen. Far beyond the preservation of judicious integrity, the exigency to confront these challenges extends to a profound comprehension of their far- reaching democratic consequences. The sway of sociocultural perspectives, as manifested through the prism of social media, in shaping real-time data for the edification of AI algorithms, emerges as a linchpin in this evaluative paradigm. A perspicacious acknowledgment of these epistemic shifts becomes sine qua non for a comprehensive apprehension of the manifold implications that AI unfurls within the tapestry of democratic governance.
