Governments have worked to reduce constraints in the logistics sector. These efforts were multifaceted, engages in various facets of logistics. They were not, however, as successful as anticipated, likely to result in the industry's lack of performance. The Indian government has issued the "National Logistics Policy 2022" in order to make the industry more productive and resilient.
National logistics policy: History of Policy
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman first announced the national logistics policy in her statement to the budget in 2020.
The government asserts that initiatives are being made to put into place an integrated and technologically advanced method to logistics activities, that will be efficacious all through the entire process and be useful in bringing down logistics costs in the country first from current levels of 13–14% of GDP.
A comprehensive action plan for the national logistics policy was unveiled along with significant elements like export-import logistics, sectoral plans for effective supply chain management, integrated digital logistics systems, a unified logistics interface platform, facilitation of the development of logistics parks, uniformity of physical assets and benchmarking service quality standards, state involvement, advancement of human resources and capacity building, and export-import logistics.
