INTRODUCTION

To lessen the consequences of warming temperatures and promote adaptation measures, a thorough legal framework is required. This research examines the evolution of environmental law with a focus on how it impacts local, state, federal, and international attempts to mitigate climate change. The article addresses the possibilities and challenges in achieving environmental sustainability and, using a comparative approach, evaluates the effectiveness of legal and policy measures in various countries. The report looks at the global reach of environmental law, highlighting key agreements like the Paris Agreement and its significance for the battle against climate change. It assesses the role of international cooperation, the notion of shared but separate duties, and the challenges associated with the implementation of climate accords among diverse nations. The research examines how the application of environmental law at the national level includes case studies of numerous countries with varied legal systems and policy-making philosophies. It examines how legislative frameworks, market-based instruments, and civil society influence national environmental policies. This comparative study emphasises the connection between both regional and global environmental law as well as the need of consistency, accountability, and openness. Additionally, it highlights the significance of environmental laws in accomplishing sustainable development goals, fostering resilience, and safeguarding the environment for both present and future generations.
