The Dark Side Of Live-In Relationships

ABSTRACT

The technological era of today has taken the Indians towards a world where people are adopting, initially enjoying and subsequently regretting the Western lifestyle. The legalisation of Live-in relationships is one such example of adopting the western culture, which although people are enjoying now, but will regret soon. The Live-in relationships are now legal in India and are backed by various laws, with number of precedents being adjudged for the same. Although there are several legal backings, but there still exist many issues that the ‘live-in’ couples have to face. India is an abode of people who give prior importance to moral values and ethics rather than the Western Culture. Although accepting modernization at a greater pace, but still, people love to stay connected to their age-old roots and carry forward the cultural heritage that they’ve got from their ancestors. From long back the significance of marriage has been spread through texts ands verses, and to counter the pious bond of marriage, now we have in front of us the brand new concept of Live-in Relationships.

Herein the article mainly focuses about the Live-in relationships, the journey of it being legalised and the darker sides of it which will cause the problems that the “live-in” couples are surely going to face in the future.
