ABSTRACT
With enlarging the scope of “measurements” in the Criminal Procedure Identification Act, 2022, the future remains obscure. The records of measurements being available to any law enforcement agencies, the Act poses threat to Fundamental Rights such as Right to equality, Right to privacy and Right to self-incrimination. The criminal pattern in the Indian society has undergone a change from offences within family and relations to motive less murders. Ten years down the line, the question of who did the crime would change to what kind of person would have committed this crime. There will be new Jack the Ripper, Shawcross prostitute Murderers in India. Fundamental Rights of privacy would shift to protection of all fundamental elements of life. Part I of the article, analyses the Act and part II of the Article tries to prove why data collection on crime offenders is the solution for solving of future violent crimes and how it can be modified to protect the fundamental rights.
