The Admissibility Of Polygraph And Narco- Analysis As Evidence In Court Of Law

Sreejit Nair, Symbiosis Law School, Pune

INTRODUCTION

The polygraph test and narco-analysis are important components of evidence and have constitutional legitimacy.1 With the advancement of technological innovation, sophisticated methods of lie detection have been developed, removing the need for authorities to use third-degree torture. The key three interrogation scientific tools that have recently been developed for extracting confessions are polygraph tests, brain mapping tests, and narcoanalysis tests. These psycho- analytical examinations are also used to examine the criminal's (or suspect's) conduct and to confirm the investigators' results. However, a key difficulty that a judge/jury may confront whenever scientific information is provided to him/her is determining whether or not to believe evidence backed by science.
