State Discrimination Against Muslims In The United States Of America

Ishita Sinha, O. P. Jindal Global University

ABSTRACT

It is the primary duty of a Nation State to ensure safety and security of its citizens from all threats, internal or external. The citizenry should be provided an environment which affords them the freedom to flourish. The people sincerely believe and hope that the government would safeguard their rights and make sure that they are not discriminated against on the basis of certain characteristics they possess. The United States of America, since time immemorial, values the ideals of equality, liberty, secularism, diversity, inclusivity, justice and welfare but in the past decade or two the American state has very evidently started differentiating between its citizens and other people visiting the country on the basis of some innate attributes and features. Even though everyone appears equal before the law, I am going to argue that the American state, as seen in the movie, the Visitor, discriminates against people on the basis of their race, gender, ethnicity and religion.
