ABSTRACT
Euthanasia or the act of deliberately ending a person’s life in order to end suffering is a topic of debate amongst law and humanities academics across the world. It is also commonly misinterpreted with the termination of life support in case of brain death. As it is a matter where the decision of continuing or ending a person’s life is to be taken, it is often an emotional period for the concerned person’s family and thus the topic is socio-legal in nature as principles related to cultural ideologies and law are intertwined during the time of decision making. This paper focuses on establishing a difference in cases of termination of life support in case of death and euthanasia and examining the socio-legal aspects of the same with respect to socio-economic factors.
