Social Media And Crime: An Untangled Relationship

ABSTRACT


The word social media itself indicates that the common platform which helps in and give chances to socialize. Now a days, without internet, we can even start out day. Due to the covid-19 pandemic also, the use of social media and internet became very frequent and obvious, and want of internet converts into the need. But, the fact which draws attention towards it is that, internet gives rise to the concept of cyber crime also.The almost crimes which take place in offline mode, can take place virtually even in simpler ways.


This paper discusses about these issues from the scratch. At the very first the author has explained the concept of social media and cyber crime and after that it’s impact, meaning and types. Apart from this a few cases and laws in the perspective of India, Indian Constitution, and Indian Penal Code have also been discussed.


The concern of the present paper regarding the analysis of relationship between social media and crimes can be concluded by stating that there is a directly proportional relationship between social media and crimes.
