Sec - 124A: Time To Finally Close The Chapter?

ABSTRACT

In light of the recent hold placed by the Supreme court on the proceedings under §124A, the infamous sedition law has been brought to the forefront of public discourse once again. In such a scenario, it becomes imperative to re- examine the law of sedition in India and its suitability in a democracy. This paper attempts to analyse the evolution of the interpretation of the law of sedition in India and its interplay between Article 19. It argues for the abolishment of the legislation.
