ABSTRACT:


In recent years, the region of Sahel has gained notoriety as an epicenter of terrorism, sending shockwaves through the global security landscape. This research paper presents a comprehensive and multidimensional exploration of Sahel's transformation into a hotbed of extremist activities addressing the myriad factors that have contributed to this alarming phenomenon. This study adopts an interdisciplinary approach, intertwining political, socio-economic, and cultural lenses to dissect the intricate web of causative elements that have fueled terrorism in Sahel. By delving into these factors, we aim to supply a nuanced understanding of the complex ecosystem that sustains and nurtures extremist

ideologies.


Furthermore, the paper meticulously evaluates the responses of both domestic and international stakeholders in dealing with the menace of terrorism in Sahel. It assesses the effectiveness of counterterrorism measures, border security policies, and collaborative efforts, finding the strengths and weaknesses that change the region's security dynamics. The research also considers the socio- economic repercussions of terrorism in Sahel, dissecting the profound disruptions it inflicts upon communities, the displacement of populations, and the hindrance of development efforts. It probes into the intricate interplay of local and international factors that have amplified the security challenges, cementing Sahel's status as an enduring epicenter of terrorism.
