ABSTRACT
This paper intends to examine the application of estoppel in the context of feeding grants under Indian law. Estoppel is a principle deeply rooted in Indian history of jurisprudence and serves to prevent parties from reneging on their promises or representations to the detriment of others. Specifically, the study focuses on the situations where governmental bodies or organizations provide grants for feeding programs, and subsequently attempt to withdraw or reduce such support. Through an analysis of relevant case law and statutory provisions, the paper elucidates how estoppel operates to safeguard the legitimate expectations and reliance interests of grant recipients. By exploring the meaning of estoppel, this paper contributes to a deeper understanding of the principles governing contractual and quasi- contractual obligations in the realm of social welfare initiatives.
