ABSTRACT
The Permanent Court of Arbitration is where disputes dissolve and deals evolve. Established in 1899 at the Hague Peace Conference, the PCA is the world’s oldest institution dedicated to resolving international disputes. Its creation marked a milestone in global efforts to promote peaceful conflict resolution. Over the decades, the PCA has facilitated numerous landmark arbitrations, cementing its role as a cornerstone of the modern international legal system. In recent years, the Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA) has continued to play a crucial role in promoting international trade by offering a reliable forum for resolving disputes arising from trade agreements, investment treaties, and commercial contracts. Its expertise in trade-related matters, coupled with its commitment to impartiality and efficiency, has enhanced confidence among businesses engaged in cross-border transactions. Moreover, the PCA’s enforcement mechanisms ensure that arbitral awards are upheld, providing parties with greater assurance and facilitating the enforcement of rights in the global marketplace. The researcher aims to investigate the trends and patterns of international trade disputes handled by the PCA and their implications for global commerce. The increasing utilization of the Permanent Court of Arbitration indicates a growing reliance on its mechanisms for resolving international trade disputes, suggesting its pivotal role in maintaining stability in global commerce. The Permanent Court of Arbitration emerges as a linchpin in fostering fair and stable cross-border trade relations through its effective resolution of international trade disputes.
