ABSTRACT
In several legal systems, the right to translation and interpretation has been recognized even in administrative proceedings, including the human rights system. The right of translation can be said to be an integral component for procedural fairness. While the right to translation for administrative proceedings is recognized explicitly in several international law instruments, it needs to be implied under the Constitution of India. This paper explores how the right to translation in administrative proceedings is interpreted through principles of natural justice. In a country like India, where there are multiple languages spoken, right to translation allows to address the linguistic challenges and provides equal access to justice to both parties.
