ABSTRACT
People’s Union of India vs Civil Liberties was a landmark judgement which expanded the scope of Right to Food which comes under Article 32 under which the Supreme Court pressurized the state governments to spend millions on food security programs. Many of the schemes were converted into legal entitlements under the Act. Some of the schemes proved out to be very successful. It was found that the main reason behind the starvation deaths was that there was no uniform distribution of food. Meaning that the food was not being made available evenly, as a result the poor citizens of India often living in remote regions were getting neglected. A lot many of these schemes were transferred into legal entitlements. The case played a huge role in fighting mass hunger, poverty and discrimination.
