Law And Justice In A Globalizing World: Revisiting The Concept Of Sovereignty In The Era Of Globalization

Anushka Sharma, LLM, Institute of Law Nirma University Ahmedabad

ABSTRACT

One aspect of globalization is that it brings the world together. However, it also leads to outside intervention by an international organization or foreign states in the domestic affairs of a country. Traditionally, the concept of state sovereignty emerged when the era was very different, states were in isolation and independent, governing their affairs. However now, with increasing interaction among states, there are various instances where foreign agencies try to intervene in matters that are exclusive to a state’s domestic jurisdiction thereby, challenging their sovereignty. Thus, it becomes essential to define the nature and rewrite a relevant definition of sovereignty in this era to justify the role of international actors in domestic purview.
