Refugee law is a part of international law that aims to protect people who are forced to flee their home country due to persecution, violence or war. The 1951 Geneva Convention established important principles like non- refoulement, which means that asylum seekers and refugees cannot be sent back to places where there is a threat to their security. However, refugees still face many challenges despite the conventions. Refugee law is a part of international law that aims to protect people who are forced to flee their home country due to persecution, violence or war. The 1951 Geneva Convention established important principles like non-refoulement, which means that asylum seekers and refugees cannot be sent back to places where there is a threat to their security. However, refugees still face many challenges despite the conventions. This research article examines the international legal framework, India’s policies through judicial decisions and the dire need for a refugee protection act. Such a law concerning international obligations would help establish clear procedures and protect the rights and dignity of this vulnerable sector of society.
