ABSTRACT
In this paper I have reflected on article “Privacy in Metaverse” by K. Bavana giving my opinion on the value of privacy in metaverse. This article discusses privacy issues in the metaverse, comparing the GDPR to Indian data collecting and privacy rules. The GDPR was not created with the metaverse in mind, but user trust depends on the transparency of how AI algorithms and user data are used. User autonomy and the freedom to erase their own data must be guaranteed. Cyberbullying, asset theft, and the real- world effects of virtual crimes are further threats that the metaverse faces. These issues can be resolved by implementing rules and regulations that limit certain behavior and impose penalties. Enforcement of rules, however, may be difficult given the various cultural values among worldwide users. Particularly in virtual gaming environments, the hazards connected with data gathering and utilization are not sufficiently addressed by current legislation. The article’s main point is that in order to handle privacy issues in the metaverse, there is a need for greater useranonymity, trust-building strategies, and strong legislation.
