ABSTRACT
In last few decades, the online space has transformed the way people create, share, and consume content. While this has created new opportunities for creators and consumers, it has also given rise to the problem of online copyright infringement. In India, copyright infringement has become a major issue in the digital age, with a wide range of cxontent being pirated and distributed without permission. This paper aims to investigate the online redressal of copyright infringement in India, with a focus on the effectiveness of government initiatives, technological solutions, and collaboration between stakeholders. The research was conducted using qualitative data collection methods. The study found that there is a lack of awareness about copyright laws among the public in India, which contributes to the problem of online copyright infringement. The enforcement mechanisms currently in place were found to be inadequate, and there is a need for greater collaboration between stakeholders, including copyright owners, internet service providers, and law enforcement agencies. Technological solutions such as digital watermarking and content filtering were found to be effective in preventing copyright infringement, but there is a need for more research on their feasibility and effectiveness in the Indian context. Based on the findings of the study, recommendations have been made for addressing online copyright infringement in India. These include increasing awareness about copyright laws through education and outreach programs, improving enforcement mechanisms through stricter penalties for infringement, and promoting collaboration between stakeholders through public-private partnerships. Additionally, the study recommends further research on the feasibility and effectiveness of technological solutions to prevent copyright infringement in the Indian context. Overall, this study contributes to the understanding of the challenges and opportunities of addressing online copyright infringement in India and provides insights into how stakeholders can work together to protect copyright in the digital age.
