Poorvaja Subramanian, B.A.LL.B (Hons.), SASTRA Deemed University, Thanjavur.

ABSTRACT

This study examines the complex problem of cultural heritage repatriation in the context of India-UK ties, with an emphasis on how it is a human rights challenge. The return of cultural artefacts from Western museums to their places of origin is a growing global human rights issue. India is an excellent case study in this regard due to its rich cultural legacy and history of colonisation. This article addresses the legal, ethical, and political aspects of cultural heritage repatriation.

The study emphasises the importance of this problem in terms of cultural identity and human rights. This paper contributes to the ongoing discussion on cultural heritage preservation, international law, and human rights by discussing the ideas surrounding repatriation.
