ABSTRACT


This paper delves into the ongoing issue of bringing Doctors under the purview of the Consumer Protection Act examining the potential consequence and after-effects of the same, along with analysing the ruling of the Supreme Court in the landmark judgment of IMA vs V.P. Shantha and A.S. Chandra vs Union of India. The discussion also focuses on relevant sections of the concerned act, navigating through the intricate legal landscape and explore the implications of the interpretation of the act to include medical professionals. This research shall offer insights into the challenges and complexities associated with extending consumer protection to medical services. The study also deals with presenting recommendations for policymakers and stakeholders to navigate this complex terrain effectively.
