ABSTRACT
Prostitution as a profession has taken shape since the inception of trade in the civilized world. With the change in the socio-religious outlook of almost all the societies have changed the reasons as to why such a hated profession thrived and sustained all over these centuries. But one thing remained common – exploitation of the sex-workers, either in the name of social norms or by the current laws and the issue of public morality. This paper explores the unilateral targeting of prostitutes not only deprives of their rights, but also contributes to the failure of the civil society and the administration in dealing with the issue as such a viewpoint which blames such workers for such profession are stuck with a narrow-minded approach, which nonchalantly ignores the traffickers, consumers, families and other socio- economic conditions of such women. Hence, it must be understood that even the prostitutes have a right to live with dignity and proper living facilities. For there to be any change with respect to the condition of prostitutes in the country and around the world, the seed of social acceptance shall be sown within each being of the society, and be saved from the horrors of legal consequences. It is a time taking process but a need of the hour.
