ABSTRACT

Elder abuse is a violation of human rights and is a substantial cause of misery, loneliness and loss of productivity for an elder. With the changing times, the attitude towards elders in society has promptly and rapidly changed. In this paper, the researcher attempts to shed some light on the plight of elderly people in present society and how some of them face abuses from their known and acquittances in their safe surroundings. This research majorly emphasises to identify the abuse, the pattern of abuse and the abusers of the elderlies. This research focuses on creating awareness among society pertaining to such abuse and also suggests certain methods to curb this rapidly rising menace within the society.
