Operational Efficiency Of Insurance Policy On Mine Workers In India

ABSTRACT

There are various socio-economic issues like health problems, economic backwardness, unpredictable injuries, occupational hazards, death of the family’s breadwinner, to which the mine workers are vulnerable. These socio- economic fluctuations can be protected through the social security schemes. The most important function of social security is to reduce the consequences of life risks and uplift people from poverty and societal descent. The risks associated with the work of the individual and their dependents are covered by social security schemes, which ensures a decent standard of living for human beings, a fundamental right. The International Labour Organization (ILO) also claims social security as a basic human right to protect against certain life risks and social needs.1 There are several laws enacted by the Government of India to ensure the social security for workers in different sectors. The workers & employer’s benefit by these laws by maintaining stable employer-worker relationship and a productive workflow.
