ABSTRACT
Family disagreements can be made uglier by the conventional judicial system because they usually involve sensitive emotional issues. The likelihood of online dispute resolution (ODR) as an innovative method for resolving these disputes is discussed in this article. Comparing ODR platforms to courtroom litigation, the former may be calming and more efficient. ODR can offer a simpler and less costly alternative for solving disputes, especially to those with financial constraints or restricted locations. Online platforms could promote organized negotiation, highlighting the importance of establishing understanding over placing blame. ODR’s capacity for speedier outcomes assists with reducing the effect on emotions that lengthy litigation can take, particularly on the young ones involved. The article introduces online dispute resolution with its brief history, followed by types of online dispute resolution types. Challenges before the traditional family courts and how ODR can transform family courts are also discussed followed by the global perspective and the position in India. The article concludes with the recommendation to fully implement the online dispute resolution method in family matters as an efficient and effective way.
