ABSTRACT

The Supreme Court's judgment in “Navtej Singh Johar v. Union of India”2 is viewed as the first step towards improving the legal status of homosexuals and the queer community in general. This essay will critically analyse the judgement in “Navtej Singh Johar v. Union of India.”3 and its impact on the lives of queer individuals. Firstly, the essay will highlight the struggle undertaken by several queer-friendly organisations. Subsequently, an exhaustive discussion on the judgment. Finally, the impact of the judgment is discussed in the last followed by the conclusion.
