Navigating Global Harmony: The League Of Nations Idealism And Its Undoing

Sampada JS, CMR University School of Legal Studies

ABSTRACT

The League of Nations, established after World War I, aimed to prevent future conflicts and promote international cooperation. Its primary objective was to maintain global peace and security through diplomatic negotiations and collective security measures. However, the absence of key global powers, internal structural weaknesses, and failure to address power dynamics among member states contributed to its demise. The League's failure to adapt to changing geopolitical realities and lack of effective enforcement mechanisms underscored its limitations. Despite its shortcomings, the League's legacy serves as a valuable lesson in global governance and the pursuit of a more peaceful world.

Keywords: League of Nations, World War, Global powers, Paris Peace Conference, Power dynamics, failure.
