Medical Identity Theft: A Threat To Privacy In The Field Of Medicine

ABSTRACT

Growth and development are some of the positive changes which are quite important for anything and anyone to function in a better way and for the progress of the mankind in general. In today’s time, the most remarkable growth is witnessed by the Information Technology Sector and the Cyber field and this advancement has made our lives better. But along with the pros, come the cons as well which prevent people from utilising these developments to their complete potential and to people’s complete satisfaction and cyber related wrongs are one of the cons which are increasing a lot these days. One such wrong is medical identity theft which is a growing privacy concern in the field of medicine. The author feels that the concerned stakeholders do not address this issue properly which further acts as a catalyst in increasing this problem. It is high time that the legislature should come up with some guidelines and laws regarding this menace. Therefore, the author through this research paper, tries to throw some light on the concept of medical identity theft as a rising threat to privacy in the field of medicine along with suggesting some ways for curbing it.
