ABSTRACT

Media plays a very vital role in the delivery of information, news and entertainment content to the public, however, some information meant for adult consumption need not be made available for children who are below the age of majority. On the other hand, the media has been infringing on children's rights to privacy which exposes them to risk with society by publishing minor or any crimes committed by them which violates their rights enshrined under section 74 of the Juvenile Justice Act, 2015. This research paper therefore will focus on ways how children need to be protected or what are the available legislations which protect children online and their safety from indecent and immoral content on media both on the internet, movies and other media platforms. The way our society teaches children is the same way we expect them to behave when they grow up into adults, should the society allow access to pornographic content easily available to children, definitely the child may grow up having an immoral mindset that this is how the society operates and should be. The main objectives of this research paper shall be highlighted, research problems to look into, possible research questions and as well as the current trend in regards to this topic. At the end of this research paper, the reader will be in a position to understand how children are being protected from media for not gaining access to contents which are meant for adults and all the available legislations and case laws will be provided as well.
