ABSTRACT
In this research paper, the researchers have tried to highlight and enlighten the unspoken oppression that a male child faces, through the lens of male child sexual abuse. The researchers have done the same to bring forward and represent the issues that these male child faces, especially in a Patriarchal society like that of India, where their needs and problems are dismissed by the society, thus, acting as a barrier to accessing help as they are overridden by the fake and stereotype notions of Masculinity, which is upheld by the conservative society.
The researchers have tried to portray this oppression faced by the male child by understanding and analysing what the term child and sexual abuse consist of, the harmful effects of such abuse, the various international as well as domestic laws present, understanding the lacunas in the past and current law regimes dealing with child sexual abuses and the reasons of non-reporting of such male child sexual abuses. Further, with special emphasis on male child sexual abuse, the researchers have tried to highlight the difference between the protection given under POCSO as compared to IPC, the general notions and assumptions pertaining to male child sexual abuse and in the end, have suggested reforms to deal with the taboos and for better protection of the male child.
