Lie Detection Tests, Evidentiary Evaluation And Admissibility

Sagarika Koneru, School of Law, Christ (Deemed to be University)

ABSTRACT

Around the world, legal systems have long had a strange infatuation with lie-detector equipment. This article presents a brief history of the Polygraph lie detection test and attempts to monitor the evolution of legal doctrine in India regarding the acceptability of such tests. The study then dives into the Indian judicial system's view on the acceptability of lie detection tests, using this as a foundation. Following a brief history of Lie detector tests being used as evidence in courts, the study seeks to reach a specific conclusion on how lie detector tests are seen and whether there needs to be any changes in the way their admissibility is viewed.
