LGBTQ+ and Religion

Siddhant Mehta, O P Jindal Global Law School

INTRODUCTION

This paper shall stress upon the evolution of the rights of the LGBT community in the eyes of the society in India and also in the eyes of the law because at certain times, the law is not what the society wants it to be and that becomes problematic for a major part of the community one lives in. It shall also look at the history of such a behavior existing in the religious texts that are stringently followed in most parts of the country. It shall end by making a comparative analysis of the laws here with the laws in other parts of the world and how they treat the LGBT community in those particular countries and the reasoning behind it.
