Kabir Malhotra, Amity Law School, Noida

ABSTRACT

Lethal injection has emerged as one of the primary methods of execution in many jurisdictions, including the United States. Despite its widespread use, lethal injection remains a topic of intense debate and scrutiny from various perspectives. This research paper explores the ethical, legal, and practical dimensions of lethal injection as a mode of capital punishment. It examines the history and development of lethal injection, analyzes the arguments for and against its use, and evaluates its effectiveness and humaneness compared to other methods of execution. Additionally, the paper explores issues related to the administration of lethal injection, including drug availability, medical ethics, and the potential for botched executions. Through a comprehensive examination of these factors, this paper aims to provide a balanced understanding of the complexities surrounding lethal injection in the context of capital punishment.
