ABSTRACT
India is one of the founding members of the International Labour Organisation and thereby holds a higher level of responsibility to ensure that the employer-employee relations in the country are maintained through an updated legislation. The Covid-19 pandemic brought difficult times for everyone across the globe, especially for the labour force of the country who had no work during the lockdown leading to their migration back to their places of origin. Although the need for a new comprehensive law to protect the labour force from exploitation and to maintain harmony in the industrial relations was felt long back, the testing times of Covid-19 made it more important for an immediate action. This paper is an endeavour into the new legislations that aims at cumulating the former labour legislations at the same time inculcating in it the features of the core conventions of the International Labour Organisation.
