It examines the historical interplay between industrialization and environmental challenges, emphasizing the environmental responsibilities that accompany corporate influence. Key topics include the integration of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) criteria into business practices, legal mechanisms to enforce environmental accountability, and landmark judicial decisions in India that reinforce corporate environmental responsibilities. The paper highlights innovative solutions like public-private partnerships, technological advancements, and green labeling, advocating for collaborative approaches to sustainable development. It further discusses the evolution of environmental law in India, with references to constitutional mandates, significant judgments, and international legal frameworks. By addressing the socio-economic impacts of corporate practices and proposing actionable strategies, this research underscores the necessity for corporations to align profit motives with ecological preservation, ensuring equitable and sustainable growth for future generations.
