Legalisation Of Gambling In India: A Pressing Priority

Khushi Nagrath, BBA LLB, Vivekananda Institute of Professional Studies, Delhi

ABSTRACT

Gambling is difficult to eradicate from Indian society. Notwithstanding the preclusions on gambling in the country, there is broad unlawful gambling. The lack of regulation and failure to enforce laws allows for the infusion of large sums of money into the industry, pushing one to intervene with the goal of influencing the overall result and giving rise to the modern concept of match-fixing and spot-fixing, which serves as an example of the inevitable nature of such an unfavourable consequence. The unaccounted cash acquired from unlawful gambling is utilized for crimes, for example, terror funding. This paper deals with the pros and cons of legalizing gambling in the country and also provides suggestions to create a legislative framework that can incorporate gambling in a way that benefits the country at large.
