Legal Remedies Available To Women For Various Offences Against Them

ABSTRACT

For ages, women have been subjected to violence of different forms and have been degraded by the other members of society. It is high time now that the women must realize their worth and they should take a stand against the atrocities faced by them. Several Constitutional provisions have been made for the protection of women against various offences and different legislations such as the Dowry (Prohibition) Act, 1961, Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005, etc. have been passed and implemented in this regard. Women have been subjected to sexual harassment, dowry death, assault, stalking, voyeurism, molestation, etc. and it has become imperative to address this issue with great regard and ensure proper implementation of the legislations enacted to address these issues. Inculcation of morals and values in the society also plays an integral role in preventing such heinous offences.
