Laws Regulating Electronic-Contracts In India: Trends And Challenges

ABSTRACT

E-commerce has acquired a significant place in the lives of people with the evolution of digital India. With the help of innovation in the field of technology a person sitting in any part of the world can enter into contract cross border as well as within border without physical contact with each other. In present time business activities can be conducted online as well as offline. Every kind of commercial activity involving individuals, groups and entities entered through the exchange of data with the help of internet is commonly called electronic commerce. E-commerce has allowed consumer to buy and sell things and services online at one click away. Thus buying and selling goods and services online comes under electronic contract which plays a major part of the economy. This article deals with describing e- contracts in general, laws governing such contracts and challenges faced in the enforcement and validity of contracts entered through electronic media.
