ABSTRACT
The article discusses the evolution of juvenile justice laws in India. The Juvenile Justice Act of 2015, which permits some adolescents aged 16 to 18 to be tried as adults, is the culmination of the article's discussion of the evolution of juvenile justice laws in India. It discusses the arguments in favor of and against trying adolescents as adults and compares the juvenile justice systems of the US and the UK. In some situations, involving significant offenses, the author makes the case for trying adolescents as adults. The abstract also emphasizes how crucial it is to consider a juvenile's mental state and intent when making these judgments.
