ABSTRACT
Juvenile Justice System originates from an ideology that children, because for their lack of understanding, need to be tried differently when compared with adults. Several legislations have also been enacted in support of the same. The author links the changes and developments in the Juvenile Justice System with the tenet that such developments further the agenda of social change and welfare of children in a society through the effective use of law in the form of legislature and judicial advice as tools. The author also points out the ideological evolution of legislature on Juvenile Justice as well as certain challenges that the system faces in the future.
